The Lupus Alliance urges all men to take their Self-Screener Test on Lupus during National Mens Health Week.
Over 1.5 million Americans have lupus; a serious life threatening autoimmune disease that affects more Americans than multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia and leukemia combined. However, very few men who have symptoms follow through with a check-up not wanting to feel embarrassed, since lupus has often been labeled a women’s disease, owing to the fact that over 90% of people with lupus are women.
